This is a 1976 Raleigh Grand Prix in Metallic Dark Blue with Gold Lug Chasing. It is a 21.5″ / 55cm / Medium (center of bottom bracket to top of seat tube) lugged steel frame with a chrome tipped lugged steel fork. The stand over height is 31.5″ directly in front of the saddle.

There is 1 speed available through the alloy Raleigh branded one ring 49t crank with alloy crank arms with chrome Union pedals and the Dicta freewheel.

The rear wheel is an alloy Weimann rim laced to quick release Sachs Maillard alloy hub. The front wheel is an alloy Araya laced to a Shimano 600 tri color quick release alloy hub. Both wheels have 700x23c Serfas RS blackwall tires with Presta valves.

Braking is handled by a front alloy Raleigh branded side pull caliper with a Weimann alloy brake lever.

The new black vinyl saddle is mounted to an alloy seat post that moves freely in the seat tube.

Bull Horn alloy handlebars are mounted to an alloy GB stem.

There are fenders mounted and there are eyelets for a rear rack.

The bicycle rides, turns and stops as it should.

According to the Serial Number, this bicycle was made at the Worksop factory in England in September of 1976. A previous owner had the bicycle converted to Single Speed at an Austin bike shop. It has been repainted in a dark metallic blue and the Headset, Wheel Hubs and Bottom Bracket have been cleaned and re-greased.

For less than the price of a generic Bike Shaped Object that anyone might buy online or from a store that sells bicycles in the Toy Department, you could have this vintage bicycle with quality components. The fact that it is still rolling down the road is a testament to how well it was built.
