This is a 1974 Mercier Mixte Model 111 in Blue with White trim and chrome tipped forks and stays. It is a 21″ / 54cm / Medium lugged steel frame.

There are 10 speeds available through the chrome Eclair two ring cottered crank with chrome Lyotard pedals and the 5 gear Maillard freewheel. Simples friction shifters are mounted on the down tube which control Simples Prestige front and rear derailleurs.

Both wheels are chrome rims laced to Normandy High Flange quick release Hubs with new 27″x1 1/4″ white wall tires. They are stopped by Mafac Racer Centerpull brakes actuated by alloy brake levers.

Velo Orange chrome fenders cover the wheels and there is a chrome rear rack and a period correct vintage T/A Specialities brake mounted chrome front rack.

The black vinyl saddle is in good condition and the seat post moves freely in the seat tube.

The chrome handlebars mounted to the aluminum Bell stem have the original white hand grips.

The bottom bracket and both wheel hubs have been cleaned and re greased and the freewheel has been cleaned and lubricated.

The bicycle rides, turns, stops and shifts through all of the gears and rings just as it should and looks stunning doing it.

This is a gorgeous French built Mixte. Mercier only exported bikes to the US for a couple of years in the early 70’s so it is unlikely that anyone else will be riding a bicycle like yours and certainly not one as good looking as this one. A beautiful, upright riding bicycle that was originally sold in Austin almost 50 years ago.
